Cardi B’s Thrown Mic Auctioned for a Whopping $100,000 on eBay

Cardi B Throwing Mic

In what can only be described as a surprising turn of events, the microphone that Cardi B threw at a fan during a show has now become the center of attention on eBay. The bidding for the mic, listed by Scott Fischer, the owner of The Wave, the audio company that provided the equipment for the show, has skyrocketed to nearly $100,000, starting from an initial price of $500.

The incident, captured in a now-viral video, shows Cardi B performing onstage when an audience member throws their drink at her, causing her to react by launching her mic overhand at the person before security intervenes. The woman hit by the mic later reported a “battery” at a local police station, which was confirmed by the Las Vegas police.

When the incident first occurred, Fischer was worried about potential damage to the microphone, which he estimated to be worth about $1,000. However, once he saw the video and realized the mic was still intact, he considered the possibility of auctioning it off for charity. The listing on eBay reads, “Shure Axient digital Mic Cardi B threw at a person. Auctioned for charity. If you want a piece of hip hop infamy and what has now become national and world news, then please bid whatever you are willing to spend.”

Fischer explained that it was easy to identify the particular microphone that was thrown by its markings and label, and he confirmed that it still works. After the video went viral and people started showing interest in buying the mic, Fischer decided to put it up for auction and donate the proceeds to charity.

However, Fischer admitted that he was amazed by the level of interest and unsure if the bidders are genuinely serious. He commented, “It’s been ridiculously insane. As long as somebody actually pays for it, some people are going to benefit, hopefully, from the money.”

Fischer’s plan for the funds raised from the auction is quite honorable. He intends to keep enough money to cover his initial cost and replace the microphone, and he will split the rest between two charities: a local Jewish charity called The Friendship Circle, and the Wounded Warrior project, in honor of his family members who are veterans.

The unexpected demand and high bids for the mic have generated significant attention and speculation. It remains to be seen who will end up being the lucky owner of this infamous piece of hip hop history, and whether they share Fischer’s commitment to supporting charitable causes.

Cardi B, however, has not responded to Insider’s request for comment regarding the auction.
