Apart from tax deadline extensions, Georgia is also issuing surplus tax refunds for timely filed 2021 and 2022 state returns. To be eligible for these refunds, you must have a tax liability for the 2021 tax year. Both Georgia residents (including part-year residents) and Georgia nonresidents may qualify for a refund. For detailed information, refer to ANBLE’s guide on Georgia Tax Refunds for 2023.

Governor Brian Kemp has also suspended the state’s motor fuel tax from September 14 until October 12, 2023. As inflation persists, this gas tax holiday is the second suspension enacted by Kemp since 2022.
