The Forgotten Grave of Ivana Trump: A Tale of Neglect and Tax Breaks

Ivana Trump’s Grave

It seems that even in death, the Trump name cannot escape controversy. The grave of Ivana Trump, the first wife of former President Donald Trump, has fallen into disrepair, according to a report from the Daily Mail. Photos and a video of the site reveal an overgrown plot, with weeds obscuring her headstone.

Ivana Trump passed away on July 14, 2022, in her New York City townhouse. The medical examiner determined that she died from blunt impact injuries to her torso, ruling her death as an accident. She was laid to rest in a private family plot at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Months after her burial, the Daily Mail published images of Ivana’s poorly maintained grave. The headstone, barely visible amidst the long grass and weeds, left an impression of neglect. However, a Trump official assured the Daily Mail that a larger headstone would be placed once the soil and foundation had settled.

“She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life,” Trump said in a tribute to Ivana after her death. Despite their divorce in 1992 following Trump’s affair with Marla Maples, he had fond words for his first wife.

Interestingly, the choice to bury Ivana at the Bedminster golf course may have had financial implications. Insider reported in July 2022 that this decision could be a strategic move by the former president to obtain tax breaks. According to the New Jersey state tax code, land dedicated to cemetery purposes is exempt from all taxes, rates, and assessments. By designating part of the golf club as a burial ground, Trump may have sought to capitalize on this loophole.

However, this was not the first time Trump considered a grand resting place for his family. In 2012, NJ.com revealed his plans to build a 19-foot-high, classical-style stone structure as a mausoleum. Unfortunately for Trump, these aspirations were met with opposition from city officials, who deemed the proposed design garish and out of place.

As of now, representatives for Donald Trump have not responded to requests for comment from Insider.

The neglected state of Ivana Trump’s grave serves as a reminder that even powerful names can fade into obscurity without proper care. While we may speculate about the reasons behind the apparent negligence, it is vital to ensure the final resting places of loved ones are maintained with the respect and dignity they deserve.
